At CLC we believe God's call upon Abraham is also his call upon Abraham's spiritual children (that's us)... that we are given life to to give it away, both spiritually and practically. So throughout the year we partner together to give life away to the Ojai community, to our country, and to the world through outreach activities that share the message of Jesus' life-giving mission and by giving practical, loving assistance. Here's a sampling of the ways we try to give life away...

  • Financial support to those on the front lines of missions domestically and internationally
  • Practical help to those in need within our church family and the Ojai community
  • Support to our Spanish-speaking congregation, Iglesia Cristo Viviente
  • Annual School Supply Drive for low-income families (August)
  • Operation Christmas Blessing gifts for low-income families (Christmas)
  • Short-term outreaches to nations all over the world
  • Providing Christian literature for missions

ways to love your neighbor

"Benevolence" is just a fancy word for being kind to those in need. Due to our lagging economy, we're seeing more needs in our church family and in the Ojai community than ever before.

Acts 2:45 says of the early Christians, "Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need." (NIV) Jesus inspired his followers to show practical kindness to each other, taking care of family first, then giving to strangers. Following his example, at CLC we seek to express love to our brothers and sisters facing financial hardships. You can do this directly or through our giving ministry. Whenever you mark your giving envelope "Benevolence", 100% of those funds go to things like feeding a family, shelter, keeping the lights on, clothing, etc.

If you notice someone who's need exceeds your ability to help, please let us know the name of the person and the extent of the need by completing the Needs form.

All around the world are people who've laid down their comfortable lives in the U.S. for ones of risk, challenge, and sacrifice in order to share hope with empty people. We call them missionaries, but that name doesn't begin to describe them or what they do every day.

Missionaries are just real people like you and me who couldn't escape a deep sense that God was calling them to sacrifice their jobs, their culture, and their comfort for a life of great purpose... to give God's love to people who've never been told or shown who Jesus really is.

And while God calls some to go further than the rest of us, we who stay behind to reach THIS culture are honored with the opportunity to partner with our friends overseas by raising funds and donating personally. Many of us send support directly to missionaries and missions organizations, which is great! But you can also give through CLC by marking your giving "Missions" or "Outreach" or even "Faith Promise" if you've made that commitment during our Outreach Day event. 100% of these funds go out to support this amazing work all over the planet every month. Last year, we were enabled by God to give away over $80,000 to bless the world. Thank you Jesus!
