you weren't meant to walk alone

Think of our walk with Jesus as a life-long journey. The point is to stick tight to our Leader, follow his example, receive his inspiration and actually GET SOMEWHERE! Right? As great as it was to have our sins washed away, that was only the beginning. Jesus came to grow us, but we all get "stuck" along the way.

If you've been going at your faith "Lone Ranger" style, I have a question. How's that workin' for ya? If you're like 99.9% of us, probably not so good. Oh, we've all done it. We try to read the Bible, pray, and share our faith consistently, but soon we get too busy or too tired so we plop down in a comfy spot and say, "God, I can't do this!" There's more truth in that statement than you know. You CAN'T do this, not without God's help... and not without people who care about you.

At CLC, Life Groups is what we call our small group ministry where real relationships are key. These groups usually have some Bible study and prayer, but their main emphasis is learning to live in Christ within the support of a healthy family. Though Life Groups have a life-span (because nothing's forever on this earth), they don't have a clear "end date" like our Deep Groups. Because of the emphasis on relationships, most Life Groups meet together for an average of 3 years.

A typical evening together lasts from 90 minutes to 2 hours. How long you stay is entirely up to you. A time of catching up and refreshments is followed by a Bible or topical study, and then group members can share their highs (to celebrate) and lows (for prayer). Some groups go out of the box, so to speak, by serving the needs of others on a Saturday, and some take on projects they can accomplish at one of their meetings. Oh yeah, and sometimes we just hang out and have fun the whole night! The main thing is that everyone in the group knows that he or she is part of God's family in a real way... being encouraged and encouraging others to live in the ever-available power of the Holy Spirit.

Well, if you're getting antsy sitting on the sidelines and feel ready to walk the Christian faith with some trail-mates who are learning to love just like you... take this hand up and join us! I recommend you try at least two different groups because each one has its own personality and "fit". And, if you're the leader type (which is easier than it sounds) and wanna try starting a brand new Life Group, let's get together and make it happen! Here's the next step...
