no need to wander aimlessly...
As our guest we want to do all we can to make you feel right at home. Below are a few pointers that may help you feel more comfortable if CLC is new to you. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please call (805) 646-1296 or email us at info@ojaiclc.org. Our office is open to serve you 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday.
When are the Sunday Celebrations?
Our first service is at 8:30 am and our second is at 10:30 am. Each service is about 90 minutes and are identical. Coffee is served after the first service at 10 am on the patio.
How do I get to CLC?
If you click here, you can use Google Maps to enter your origin and get directions. Or below are general directions to get to CLC...
- From the Vons shopping center at the "Y" (Maricopa Hwy 33 & Hwy 150) go north on 33
- Pass Nordhoff High School and turn LEFT at the El Roblar stop sign
- CLC is about half a mile up on the right (north) side @ 190 E El Roblar Dr
Is there visitor parking?
Yes. There are two spaces in the front marked "visitor" under the shade of the tree and two in the rear along the east block wall, close to the building. Guests aren't required to park here, but the spaces are reserved for your convenience.
Where's the entrance?
Please enter through the glass doors on the front or rear of the foyer. These doors have our name and logo on them. When you enter, an usher will greet you and hand you a "CLC This Week" with up-to-date info on what's happening at CLC. If you have questions or would like the usher to find you a seat, simply express your needs and he or she will be glad to help you.
Is there something for our kids?
Yes, and they'll love it! In each of our services, we offer "Kids R.O.C.K.," an engaging, age-appropriate children's ministry including the following groups:
Group Name Ages/Grades Room # Directions
Pebbles 0 - 2 years Nursery Down hall, second door on left
Little Rocks 3 yrs - 1st grade Room 6 Down hall, turn right, last door on right
Kids Rock! 2nd - 4th grades Room 2 Down hall, turn right, first door on left
180 (10:30 service only) 7th - 9th grades Room 4 Down hall, turn right, 3rd door on left
An usher can help you find the room you're looking for. We also offer art kits for children who prefer to stay with their parents during the services. We do ask that children who are causing distractions be seated to the rear of the sanctuary or an usher can provide you with a listening device so you can listen to the service from the patio or foyer. The entry-room to the women's restrooom also serves as a mother's lounge for nursing moms. This room has closed-circuit TV of the service.
Should I dress up?
Not unless you really want to. Our services have a casual style to them and most people dress accordingly. Some wear shorts and t-shirts while a few wear suits or dresses. The Bible does teach that we should dress modestly as not to distract attention away from God and onto ourselves. We think that's still a good idea.
What should I expect during a Sunday Celebration?
The whole point of these 90 minutes we spend together is to focus our attention on God in worship and the teaching of His word. A typical service will include an opening praise song where we stand and sing together. Our music style is contemporary with a light rock feel (and volume!). The words to all our songs will be displayed on the screen up front, so feel free to try to sing along with us. Next, we greet one another, always looking for new faces. Then we'll announce upcoming events or needs and receive the offering. The offering is for our regular attenders, so if you're our guest, please don't feel obligated to give. We WOULD love it, however, if you fill out the green "Welcome" card in the back of the chairs and bring it to the white tent on the patio after service so we can answer your questions and bless you with a gift... our way of thanking you for your visit.
Next, we'll worship the Lord in singing for about 20 minutes. Finally, our pastor or guest speaker will teach from the Bible. Typically, there will be teaching notes in the bulletin with the scripture on the back. Bibles are also provided under the seats. We aim to make our teaching style biblically accurate while relational and practical to everyday life. After the closing prayer, feel free to stay and worship, pray or make some new friends on the patio. Coffee is served between our services at 10 AM.
What if I have a hard time hearing or need to take my child out of the service?
Ask an usher for a hearing device. It's like a little AM radio with an earbud. You can adjust the volume to your liking and listen to the service from about 100 feet from the sanctuary. Nursing moms may also watch the service on closed-circuit TV from the lounge at the entrance to the ladies restroom.
